Intimacy with Christ by Irene Taylor

The Lord is our Shepherd, why shall we ever want?
We should want for nothing, AND for the Lord is more than enough
He is our Keeper; He is our Savior, Redeemer and Deliverer
But how do we fit inside this transition?
For He is King of all Kings and Lord of Lords; the Creator of all
Where is the fear that should lie within?
We fulfill our flesh and neglect His spirit
And why should we exist in this relationship?
Where is the intimacy that He so truly desires?
The surrender that’s so desperately necessary
To become the nature of God which He created
And leaving behind the nature of man, that which He hated
We’re given the courtesy of wisdom and understanding
Knowledge to receive, power to ascertain, a spirit of love
But He is our Provider for all of these
Whatever the void may be it shall become history
As the Lord increase we must decrease then, we’re given the victory
For He is the Vine and we are the branches
It is His will and our surrender that combines
To formulate the growth of intimacy
Falling in love together
We begin as servants waiting for instruction
Being nurtured, corrected, molded to obedience
Moving onto perfection subjecting ourselves to the higher power
Through spiritual maturity
But it’s a must that these actions are consistent and spontaneous
We cannot believe it’s trivial
There’s a spontaneity that becomes evident
Through God and God alone, it can be done
It’s not by power or by might, but by His spirit thus saith the Lord
